Foamex is a compressed PVC rigid material that comes in 3mm, 5mm and 10mm thicknesses. It is strong, flexible and durable. Foamex can be fixed with screws, nails or rivets to any suitable surface and can be used indoors or outdoors. These are for the lower end market shop sign as it is a very cost effective and popular board.
DNN Signs favorite for Shop Signage – Aluminium Composite Board
Aluminium Composite Board is a lightweight, dimensionally stable and strong product made of two sheets of coated aluminium with a solid polyethylene core. The board is very strong and has a smooth surface for a great print finish. The aluminium composite comes in a 2mm, 3mm, and 4mm thickness it can be fixed with screws, nails or rivets to any suitable surface. It can also be used indoors or outdoors. Although this product is slightly more expensive than Foamex, it is far more durable for a quality longer lasting Shop Sign.
Correx - Economical & Lightweight
Correx Material is made from Polypropylene, a PVC that totally waterproof. This material is for budget signs or temporary signage as it is the cheapest board we stock. At 4mm in thickness, this product is quite rigid and will not rot or swell. The main uses for this product are estate agent boards & site safety boards.
Acrylic
Acrylic has been taken over by the Aluminium Composite board for fascia signs because it has a higher price but there are certain things it does that cannot be substituted by other products.
Acrylic comes in clear so the whole panel is transparent.
It also comes in many coloursbut unlike many other materials, if you router in to it or cut through it, it will remain the same colour on the face of the material and also the freshly routered/cut edges.
